No rehearsal May 30

We’ll be singing for the folks at a local seniors’ home on Tuesday, May 30, so we won’t be having a regular rehearsal that evening.  If you’re thinking of coming and checking out one of our rehearsals, we’ll be happy to meet you on June 6!

Listen to the Music!

2017_listen_music_FBTimelineCover

Music enriches our lives.  It can lift our mood, or give us the strength to stand up for what we believe in.   It can soothe us to sleep, or help us express our love.  It can build community and bring people together.  We invite you to join us as we celebrate our love of music.  Tap your toes to “Singin’ in the Rain”.  Laugh at the comedy of Monty Python’s “The Song that Goes Like This”.  Groove along to Pentatonix’s “Sing”, and revel in the beauty of “Earth Song”.  So put another nickel in the nickelodeon, and come Listen to the Music!

WHEN: 7:30 pm Saturday, June 24, 2017. Doors open at 7:00 pm.

WHERE: Unitarian Church of Vancouver, 949 West 49th Ave (corner of 49th & Oak).

The nearest Skytrain Station is Langara-49th Station, and the #17(Oak Street) and #49 (49th Ave) buses stop nearby.

New season approaching!

Did you know that Out in Harmony starts up again soon?  Rehearsals resume on September 6, which is only a few short weeks away!  Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings, 7:30 – 9:30 at St. Margaret’s Cedar Cottage Anglican Church, 1530 E 22nd Ave., Vancouver.  Rehearsals are wheelchair accessible and scent-free.  New folks are welcome at any time, but it’s nice to start in September and get right in on the beginning of the new music.  Our next concert will be on January 21, and it will include songs around the themes of belonging, inclusion,  and welcoming.

For those who were around last season (or want to learn some music really quickly!) we’ll be brushing up some of the last concert’s music to perform at the AIDS Walk on Sunday, September 25.  Mark your calendars now!  (We’ll be reviewing this music the last thing in the evening, during the first couple of rehearsals.)

Due to popular demand, this year we will be finishing rehearsals at 9:30 instead of 9:45.
We hope to see you soon!

But, ah! Those Summer Nights!

[edit: link for ads@outinharmony.org now corrected.  ]

Here Comes the Sun! We daydreamed all winter about what we would do In Summer, and the season is finally upon us! The days are long and lazy and free, and sometimes it’s just Too Darn Hot to do anything. But then the glare of the blazing sun fades, and the edges of the world soften, and we catch a warm Summer Wind and dance to the Rhythm of the Night. After your long summer days, join us for Summer Nights!

Happy new (choir) year!

We accept new members at any time, so don’t worry if you can’t make it this week.

And the living is easy…

If you can, bring a labelled snack to share, bring your summer stories so we can all catch up at break, and bring a friend, because more is merrier. As always, our rehearsals are scent and hemp free. Coming soon!

Hello, friends. I hope you are all enjoying the summer. Did you know that Out in Harmony starts up again soon? Rehearsals start on September 9, which is only 15 days away! (Note that we’re starting the week *after* Labour Day, since it falls so early this year.) I hope you can all join us, including those of you we haven’t seen for a while.

This is a good time to mention Out in Harmony to any of your friends who might like to come out and try singing with us. New folks are welcome at any time, but it’s nice to get right in on the beginning of the new music. (Please also mention that rehearsals are held in a scent-free environment! We like for everyone to be able to breathe!)

For those who were around last season (or want to learn some music really quickly!) we’ll be brushing up some of the last concert’s music to perform at the Walk for Life on Sunday, September 21. Mark your calendars now! (We’ll be reviewing this music the last thing in the evening, during the first couple of rehearsals.)

For those who like to keep track of such things, the September job rotation is: Basses on clean up, Tenors on snacks, Altos on set up, and Sopranos off. (Though you can all feel free to bring snacks to the first rehearsal, as we’ll have a longer break in which to greet each other.)

I look forward to seeing you all on September 9!
