The 100 Mile Concert – January 25, 2020

Out in Harmony, your favorite Gay, Bi, Trans, Queer, Lesbian, & Friends Community Choir, invites you to a concert in which we explore and celebrate the music of local composers.

Most people have heard of the idea of the 100 mile diet, in which one eats only food that was produced locally.  Well, we’re taking up the challenge of singing an entire concert of music that was written locally!  100 miles from Vancouver includes Victoria, Nanaimo, Courtenay, Powell River, Hope, Squamish, Whistler, Bellingham, Everett, and the San Juan islands.  We are very fortunate to live in an area that has a prolific and vibrant music scene in a wide variety of genres.  We’ve included some familiar popular music names like Michael Bublé, Sarah McLachlan, and Carly Rae Jepsen.  We’ll visit Vancouver’s checkered past with Stephen Chatman’s “The Grand Hotel” and sing our favourites from renowned choral musicians Stephen Smith and Brian Tate.  We’ve also discovered new music from local singer-songwriters like Leah Abramson and Hilary Grist. We hope you will join us as we “Sing Local”!

This is a wheelchair accessible and scent reduced venue/event.

    Circle Chant Virtual Choir Video

It wouldn’t be a stretch to say Circle Chant is OIH’s signature piece. It’s the song that everyone who’s been in the choir in the past decade knows, and the song we sing when we need to take a moment and bring us together. So when we decided to record a virtual choir video this winter, Circle Chant was of course the song we needed to bring us together in spirit when we can’t be together in person.
